SCHOONER SCRIPT™
©1996-2011 by Three Islands Press

Schooner Script™ is modeled after a single handwritten letter, dated 18 September 1825, from the pastor of a church in Princeton, Massachusetts, to his congregation — a plea for donations to help some families who lost their belongings in an accident at sea. (The ill-fated boat was, in fact, a sloop, but a digital script already went by that name.)

Schooner Script has a distinctive, early-nineteenth-century elegance: a deliberate slant, fat vertical strokes, graceful descenders. Good for drop caps and callouts — but also in textual situations, to express a historical flourish or general timelessness. Has a full character set, including ligatures, diacritics, even some common English words. Available for all modern operating systems in PostScript Type 1 and TrueType formats.

SCHOONER SCRIPT IS NOT FREE. It’s a commercial product that requires a license for use. You’re welcome to try out this limited demo (it shows the upper- and lowercase alphabet except for “E” and “e”) before licensing the real thing (US$39), so long as you delete the demo file afterward, whether or not you choose to pay. Please do not pass this demo file along; if others wish to give Schooner Script a try, please direct them to this Three Islands Press website, where you may also order the full release online:
